A Celebration of Spanish-language Song
CANTAMOS showcases the diversity of classical music by bringing the fascinating and spirited music of Latin America and Europe to Upper Manhattan and exploring the rich cultural heritage of Washington Heights. Vocalists and instrumentalists come together to perform zarzuela selections from El barbero de Sevilla and Las Hijas del Zebedeo, songs from Argentina, El Salvador, and Puerto Rico, favorite boleros such as “Por Amor” and “Besame Mucho”, baroque opera with the Dorian Baroque Orchestra, and more.

In addition to performing, artists also take part in a series of workshops geared towards professional development.

Presented by the United Palace of Cultural Arts as part of their Lobby Series as part of the Uptown Arts Stroll organized by the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance.

Project 1
Prompted by the 150th anniversary of Richard Strauss' birth, Cantanti Project's first project was an all-Strauss concert of lieder and opera selections from Arabella, Ariadne auf Naxos, and Der Rosenkavalier. True to the spirit of Cantanti Project, the concert was singer-conceived, singer-produced, and singer-organized, with repertoire shaped by singer suggestions and finalized with the intention of featuring each performer as a soloist and ensemble member.
